Hello, I’m Aoife
I am really excited to share information, stories and inspiration with you about my experience of having Rheumatoid Arthritis and a couple of other auto-immune conditions. I am a 45-year-old mother of two wonderful boys, with a loving supportive husband, living in the south of England in the peaceful countryside.
Why am I doing this?
For a long time now, I have been wanting to connect with other people who have been on a similar journey to me. It is only now that I feel I have enough energy, impetus and confidence to do just that. I wish to provide tips and support for those who are newly diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other autoimmune conditions.
This is for you if you would like to try moving towards taking fewer pharmaceutical drugs. After 23 years on this journey, I have lots to share and have tried most remedies, treatments and solutions out there. My cupboard full of pills and potions is a testament to that! If you would like to read more about my journey with these conditions please visit My Story.
The thing about autoimmune diseases is that symptoms can be constantly changing in severity, character and frequency. So it is extremely helpful to have a plan, a regular routine, and focused resources to support you through the ups and downs. I don’t like to think of it as a battle plan, as there is a tendency to perceive that the body is attacking itself and engaged in a war already. I envision it more as a self-love plan. Our beautiful bodies are incredible and doing the best that they can, in incredibly difficult circumstances.
How I choose to spend my energy:
Every day, I aim to meditate, get some fresh air, write something, connect with a friend, move my body, eat nourishing foods and drink plenty of clean water. It doesn’t always go to that plan! Even though my arthritis symptoms and pain has been much reduced by my Autoimmune Protocol Diet, I still suffer from fatigue and brain fog at times, so using my limited energy wisely is crucial.
I am a certified practitioner of Sound Therapy, Sacred Drumming, Metamorphic Technique and Emotion Code although for quite a time I have not been working. I enjoy practising Non-Violent Communication and facilitate Touch Drawing. What makes my heart sing is painting from the soul, art journaling, cuddling with my boys, walking in forests or by the sea with my husband, singing in groups and connecting with others in women’s circles.
My deepest wish is that this blog will inspire hopefulness in you and give you new tools to take you forward on the road to recovery. I wish you radiance and vitality, with mind, body and spirit in balance and harmony.
